Oklahoma Wind Energy Center

The Oklahoma Wind Energy Center was the state’s first large-scale commercial wind energy project. OMPA purchases and transmits wind-generated electricity from 34 General Electric 1.5-megawatt turbines located northeast of Woodward, Oklahoma.Wind-generated electricity is offered to our member cities for sale to their commercial and residential customers.

OMPA’s wind turbines at the Oklahoma Wind Energy Center produced 141, 099 megawatt-hours in 2012. 

Canadian Hills Wind Farm

OMPA has entered into a 25-year agreement, with Apex Energy Holding, LLC, to purchase 49.2 megawatts of wind generation from the Canadian Hills Wind Farm. Canadian Hills is located near El Reno, Oklahoma. The wind farm has a capacity of 300-megawattss. Canadian Hills began commercial operations on December 22, 2012.
