Journeyman Lineman- City of Tonkawa

The City of Tonkawa Administrative Office is accepting applications for a Full-Time Electrical Journeyman Lineman.

The Candidate for this position will install, repair and maintain overhead and underground electrical power lines and auxiliary equipment. This position will be the highest of the multi-step progression from Apprentice Lineman to Journeyman Lineman and is expected to do all aspects of Journeyman Lineman duties for the Company. This will position know all the steps in this classification and expected to perform all aspects of these duties.

Journeyman Lineman- City of Newkirk

Journeyman or Apprentice Lineman- City of Edmond

WHO WE ARE:  Edmond Electric is Oklahoma’s largest community-owned electric utility.  Edmond Electric has served the Edmond community since 1908.  Today, Edmond Electric provides electric services to more than 83,000 residents within the City of Edmond corporate city limits.

THE LIFE OF ELECTRIC JOURNEY LINEMAN:  As an Electric Journey Lineman you will work with the Lead Journeyman Lineman in coordinating the work of operation and maintenance personnel, including contractor crews, to assure safe, efficient job performance producing quality results.  Work involves climbing poles and handling high voltages.  Responsible for enforcement of safety policies and seeing that construction standards are followed.  Considerable independent action is required.  Must understand the empowerment concept and encourage other team members to take initiative in planning, coordination, and problem solving for crew activities.

DUTIES:

  • Construction, maintenance and repair of power distribution systems.
  • Operate and maintain the existing distribution system and construction of new facilities.
  • Perform work on energized and non-energized circuits.
  • Climb poles or ride in bucket attached to truck mounted boom.
  • Coordinate the work to assure safe, efficient job performance producing quality results.
  • Continually learn to read and interpret electrical power circuit plans and specifications.
  • Continually learn the methods, materials and equipment used.
  • Continually learn construction standards, code requirements and specifications.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed or be willing to complete within one year (testing and skills evaluation), an apprenticeship program equivalent to the City of Edmond Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Training Program and hold certification.
  • Must have 8,000 hours experience as a First Class Lineman.
  • Required to live or relocate residence within a 7 mile radius of the department service area for response time.  Boundaries are 7 miles north of Waterloo, east of Westminster, south of Memorial, and west of Western.
  • Must have or obtain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have or obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with required endorsements.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude, good math skills and the ability to learn.
  • Must have knowledge of the materials, tools and equipment to be used.
  • Must have knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions.
  • Must be physically able to lift heavy objects and climb utility poles.
  • Must pass a physical examination at a facility designated by the City of Edmond.
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions.

 

Journeyman Lineman- City of Newkirk

Experienced Journeyman Lineman opening with the City of Newkirk:  Duties include but not limited to installing, removing and relocating utility poles, lights, electrical cable and all forms of electrical material and accessories utilized in the construction, maintenance and operation of electrical system. Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions and unfavorable weather conditions while handling dangerous equipment.  Successful applicant must be able to work nights, holidays, weekends and emergencies. Thirty Minute emergency response times is a must. Duties include install, change, transfer, move and remove poles, pole line hardware, guys, transformers, lightning arresters, streetlight equipment, energized conductors, insulators, conduit, capacitor bank controls and any and all forms of electrical material and accessories utilized in the construction, maintenance, and operation of electric circuits. Requirements include: Journeyman certification, Class B CDL, high school graduate/GED, and ability to work in physically demanding conditions and unfavorable weather conditions while handling dangerous equipment.  Successful applicant must be able to work nights, holidays, weekends, and emergencies. Electric Lineman- Duncan, OK

The City of Duncan is accepting applications for the position of Electric Lineman. Responsibilities include construction and maintenance of the electrical distribution system. Prior experience is required. The hourly salary for this position is $25.51 per hour (salary increased to $26.79 after first year with favorable evaluation) plus the fringe benefit package. Journeyman Lineman – Altus, OK

Installs, operates, maintains and repairs overhead and underground electrical power lines and systems, as well as transmission and substation facilities. Handles service calls, must be able to respond within 30 minutes. High school graduate or GED, must have completed necessary requirements of a 4-year apprenticeship or equivalent program. Must possess a current drivers license with acceptable driving record must be able to obtain a class “B” commercial driver’s license with an air brake rider (trailer) within 30 days of hire. Distribution Lineman- Pryor, OK

Municipal Utility Board, City of Pryor.  Salary Range: $21.44 per hour to $29.19 per hour depending on qualifications.

The Utility Board provides an excellent benefit package that includes Health, Dental, Life and Disability Insurance, Vacation, Sick Leave, and Retirement Plan. Applicant must perform highly skilled work on the installation, maintenance, and repair of the city’s municipal electrical utility system.

Incumbents’ will work on energized primary and secondary electrical distribution lines both overhead and underground. Position requires education equivalent to completion of high school and the experience necessary to work both from a wooden pole with climbers and from an aerial platform.
