All Power Restored to the City of Newkirk

All power has been restored to the City of Newkirk. The City of Newkirk was without power following Wednesday night’s storms that produced 70 mph winds. During the storm, four transmission poles were knocked down and one was snapped in half by the high winds which caused the outage.

OMPA personnel, the City of Newkirk, Ponca City Engery and Whitnah construction have worked diligently the past two days and nights in order to repair the damage.

Again, we would like to thank the citizens of Newkirk for being patient under the conditions they experienced.  We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the crews of the City of Newkirk, Ponca City Energy, Whitnah Construction and OMPA personnel for their effort and commitment in repairing the damage.

OMPA is a state governmental agency created by the legislature to serve cities and towns that own and operate their electrical distribution systems and is governed by the members. The Authority presently serves 39 municipally-owned electric systems in Oklahoma.
