OMPA Director of Member Services

JOB DESCRIPTION: Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) is looking for a full-time Director of Member Services. This position is responsible for member relations and manages a moderate size team which has frequent interaction with local city staff.  Acts as public spokesperson to the media.  Ability to write speeches/articles for publication and able to effectively present to various groups is required.  Manages various programs for member cities and recommends consideration of new programs.  This department plays a key role in maintaining good member city relations, which is critical to the success of the organization.  Considerable in-state travel is required, with occasional out of state travel.  Reports to the Authority’s General Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage member city relations, visit city staff and city councils.
  2. Management of Member Services team and programs.
  3. Public spokesperson.
  4. Serves on various boards and committees including Southwestern Power Resources Association Board, APPA Committees, Ex-Officio on MESO Board, and other organizations consistent with the mission of OMPA.
  5. Frequent interaction and presentations to the OMPA Board of Directors.
  6. Assist municipal system with mutual aid in times of significant outages.
  7. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable experience with city government and operations. Experience with a municipal distribution utility would be highly preferred.  7-10 years of management experience.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required, Graduate degree (M.B.A., M.A., etc.) preferred.

City Manager – Mangum, OK

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT MANGUM

Mangum, Oklahoma has a population of 3010 residents.  Mangum is an innovative community with a rich history and provides a great quality of life. It is the county seat of Greer County and has an agricultural and industrial based economy.  The City has many recreational attractions including the Old Greer County Museum & Hall of Fame, Artist Alley, Margaret Carder Library, Wild West Days, Great Plains Stampede Rodeo, and the annual Rattlesnake Derby. Also there is a City Park that has been renovated with a community pool, playgrounds and splash pad.  Mangum is located in SW Oklahoma 11 miles from Quartz Mountain Resort Arts and Conference and Nature Park, South of Sandy Sanders WMA, and 25 miles from Altus Air Force Base.

MANGUM CITY SERVICES OFFERED AND FACILITIES OWNED BY THE CITY
The City provides Electric, Water, Wastewater, contracts Trash services, and operates a standby electric generation system.   The City maintains a municipal airport, golf course, aquatic facilities, two cemeteries and three parks, a city library and associated with the local hospital.

CITY MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration is preferred or equivalent field. A minimum of five years of local government experience required.  The candidate must possess management and budgetary skills, public communication skills, and implement City policies and practices.  The City is seeking a responsible, qualified leader with the ability to communicate with the commission and community, administer municipal programs, write grants, and the ability to maintain a productive working relationship with employees. Journeyman Lineman- Perry, OK

Apprentice Lineman- Altus, OK

Electric Journey Lineman- Edmond, OK

DUTIES:

  • Construction, maintenance and repair of power distribution systems.
  • Operate and maintain the existing distribution system and construction of new facilities.
  • Perform work on energized and non-energized circuits.
  • Climb poles or ride in bucket attached to truck mounted boom.
  • Coordinate the work to assure safe, efficient job performance producing quality results.
  • Continually learn to read and interpret electrical power circuit plans and specifications.
  • Continually learn the methods, materials and equipment used.
  • Continually learn construction standards, code requirements and specifications.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed, or be willing to complete within one year (testing and skills evaluation), an apprenticeship program equivalent to the City of Edmond Electric Lineman Apprenticeship Training Program, and hold certification.
  • Must have 8,000 hours experience as a First Class Lineman.
  • Required to live or relocate residence within a 7 mile radius of the department service area for response time.  Boundaries are 7 miles north of Waterloo, east of Westminster, south of Memorial, and West of Western.
  • Must have or obtain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have or obtain a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with required endorsements.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude, good math skills and the ability to learn.
  • Must have knowledge of the materials, tools and equipment to be used.
  • Must have knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions.
  • Must be physically able to lift heavy objects and climb utility poles.
  • Must pass a physical examination at a facility designated by the City of Edmond.
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions.

Electric Lineman- Duncan, OK

The City of Duncan is accepting applications for the position of Electric Lineman. Responsibilities include construction and maintenance of the electrical distribution system. Prior experience is required. The hourly salary for this position is $25.51 per hour (salary increased to $26.79 after first year with favorable evaluation) plus the fringe benefit package. This position can be under-filled as an Apprentice. The hourly salary for an Apprentice is $14.55 per hour. Applications are required and are available in the downstairs lobby of City Hall, 720 W. Journeyman Lineman – Altus, OK

Installs, operates, maintains and repairs overhead and underground electrical power lines and systems, as well as transmission and substation facilities. Handles service calls, must be able to respond within 30 minutes. High school graduate or GED, must have completed necessary requirements of a 4-year apprenticeship or equivalent program. Must possess a current drivers license with acceptable driving record must be able to obtain a class “B” commercial driver’s license with an air brake rider (trailer) within 30 days of hire. Distribution Lineman- Pryor, OK

Municipal Utility Board, City of Pryor.  Salary Range: $21.44 per hour to $29.19 per hour depending on qualifications.

The Utility Board provides an excellent benefit package that includes Health, Dental, Life and Disability Insurance, Vacation, Sick Leave, and Retirement Plan. Applicant must perform highly skilled work on the installation, maintenance, and repair of the city’s municipal electrical utility system.

Incumbents’ will work on energized primary and secondary electrical distribution lines both overhead and underground. Position requires education equivalent to completion of high school and the experience necessary to work both from a wooden pole with climbers and from an aerial platform.
