Storm Restoration Efforts Underway
The City of Newkirk is currently without power as a result of last night’s storms. During the storm, seven transmission poles were knocked down by high winds causing the outage.
OMPA personnel are onsite, along with Ponca City Energy crews, clearing the area. Materials to rebuild the damaged line have been obtained.
OMPA has contacted a contractor to rebuild the damaged sections of line. The contractor is scheduled to arrive late this afternoon to begin the rebuild.
More updates will be provided when more details are known.
We appreciate the citizens of Newkirk being patient under the conditions they are experiencing. We ask that customers remain patient as crews are working as fast as they can to restore power.
OMPA is a state governmental agency created by the legislature to serve cities and towns that own and operate their electrical distribution systems and is governed by the members. The Authority presently serves 39 municipally-owned electric systems in Oklahoma.
