 STORM DAMAGE UPDATE

Below is an update on clean up and restoration activities as a result of Friday night’s microburst thunderstorm:

 Electrical System

Ponca City Energy continues to make electrical system repairs:

  • Electrical service has been restored except for 30 customers.  Their locations are scattered throughout the service area.  One of these customers is Copper Creek Apartments, but it is anticipated that their power should be restored early today.

  • Work continues on the rebuilding of the electric transmission line on Waverly.  Waverly is still closed on Waverly, between Hartford Avenue and South Avenue.  As a result, the Ponca City Aquatic and Family Center-YMCA is still closed.  It is anticipated that repairs on Waverly will be completed and the road opened on Wednesday.  Electrical crews from the City of Edmond and the City of Stillwater are still in Ponca City helping with repairs.

Residential Storm Debris Removal

The following steps are being taken by Solid Waste to help with RESIDENTIAL STORM DEBRIS:

  • Anything set out over the past weekend within the parameters of the City‘s annual Spring Clean Up will be picked up.  Spring Clean Up ended Sunday April 10.

  • Solid Waste will pick up RESIDENTIAL STORM DEBRIS ONLY (trees, fences etc.) through Sunday, April 17.  Items should be placed at the resident’s normal pick-up location.

  • There will be no fee for RESIDENTIAL STORM DEBRIS disposal at the City of Ponca City’s Landfill through Saturday, April 16.

City Manager Craig Stephenson asks the public to please avoid driving in areas where clean up and repairs are being completed, so that work can be completely safely and injuries can be avoided.
